Melissa Godfrey Memorial Sponsored Swim 17th/26th January 2009

Posted on 08 Dec 2008 at 22:57 by Mike Lambert

Melissa Godfrey, daughter of our club President Colin Godfrey passed away on Friday 28th November 2008, aged just 21, after a life-long battle against Cystic Fibrosis.

Melissa was involved with the club throughout her life, learning to swim at the age of 3. She was a swimmer and a teacher. Many of our current members were taught by Melissa at Cranbourne. Always cheerful, Melissa's courage in the face of her illness was an inspiration to everyone.

Now is the time for us all to give something back to Melissa. The 2009 sponsored swim is dedicated to Melissa's memory. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust. We already know that a lot of those who were members at the same time as Melissa are planning to participate.

Put the dates in your diary now.

  • Lessons: Saturday January 17th at Cranbourne (You will get details from Sue Lambert)
  • Current Squads: Monday January 26th at the Aquadrome (You will get details from Barry Neale)
  • Others: Monday January 26th at the Aquadrome (Look out for details on Facebook)

Payment for lessons missed at Cranbourne

Now that the problem at Cranbourne Pool is fixed, we are able to sort your Direct Debit payments for this year.

No payment will be taken on your Direct Debit in March; this will cover lessons missed in January and will apply to all children originally registered to swim at Cranbourne in January 09, including those who have now moved to QMC. Parents of children new to our programme in January will start to pay on their Direct Debits from April.

Assuming no more problems, we will now be able to offer at least 36 lessons during the year Sept 08 to July 09 (taking into account the reduction with one month less payment).
